The conference/workshop “A region without borders” held on 26-27 September 2017 was the first conference on healthcare in a cross-border context arranged by the Steering Committee, Northern Health Across borders.
Over thirty health care professionals from northern Norway, Sweden and Finland were brought together, to share their experiences, to learn from one another and to discuss the future development of healthcare. The event was a key activity for the Steering Committee, both as the first conference of this kind and as an introduction to future networking between professionals in the field. It was attended by a wide range of participants in health care practice both in clinical work and on management level: researchers, practitioners, nurses, psychiatrist, HR-managers, IT-specialists, strategists, medical incident commander, medical directors and chief executives.
The conference was organized as small, facilitated workshops and presentations to allow all participants to enter into discussions. The aim was to discuss how to achieve equal and patient-centered care in rural areas and border regions.
The participants enjoyed the chance to meet professionals from neighboring Nordic countries, the opportunity to network and to learn from one another, and the chance to explore ideas.
